Slamming President Donald Trump for a golf outing just days after a gunman terrorized a South Florida high school and killing 17 people, CNN’s Anderson Cooper also addressed Trump’s ridiculous flurry of tweets over the course of the weekend. Cooper brought attention to the fact that the President is making everything about himself. (See video below)
“This morning he tweeted, ‘Have a great, but very reflective, President’s Day!’ ” Cooper said on CNN.
“And then he went to play golf while they held funerals for two teenagers nearby.”
Cooper informed Americans that funerals will continue to be held throughout the week for the 17 people who died in last week’s tragic shooting, when Nikolas Cruz opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
Over the weekend, Trump decided to vent his anger with the Russia probe, accusing the FBI of missing “all of the many signals” about the troubled Nikolas Cruz, because “they are spending too much time trying to prove Russian collusion with the Trump campaign.”
Cooper condemned President Trump for his Twitter outburst over the weekend, which saw him touching on a variety of topics, but completely failed to mention any of the people who were killed in the massacre.
“For anyone still waiting for the president to pivot, that’s a pivot away from the murder of 17 people to himself,” Cooper said.
Since the shooting took place, a number of lawmakers have rallied for Congress to take legislative action with regards to gun control. Even students who survived the mass shooting have become advocates – demanding that Congress takes action immediately, in order to prevent future tragedies.
On Monday, without any compassion for the victims or survivors of the shooting, Trump hit the golf course only three days after visiting those affected by the atrocity. Although the President managed to avoid golfing over the weekend, it was obvious that his decision was strictly to maintain appearances, as he was back at it the instant that he felt the dust had settled, so to speak.
Do you think Trump made a huge mistake by going golfing so soon after the tragedy that befell nearby Parkland?
