Trump Just Congratulated Himself on Twitter After Slamming Russiagate

As the President stares down the barrel of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into his campaign’s possible collusion with the Russian government to influence the outcome of the 2016 election, Trump took to Twitter in what seems to be both an unhinged and self-congratulatory ran. (Tweet below)

“Since the first day I took office, all you hear is the phony Democrat excuse for losing the election, Russia, Russia,Russia. Despite this I have the economy booming and have possibly done more than any 10 month President. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

While Trump claims that the Democrats are guilty of relitigating the election, it is actually the President that has brought up either his Electoral College victory or the election itself on a nauseatingly frequent basis. He has gone so far as to display a map of the 2016 election results in the White House as reported by The Hill and even handed out copies of the electoral map during an interview with Reuters.

Furthermore, he denigrates Mueller’s Russia investigation – which has been circling the Trump team for months – by writing “Russia, Russia,Russia, [sic]” as if conferring a patronizing tone minimizes its importance. In actuality, the probe has already resulted in three serious federal charges being levied against former Trump campaign officials, including Paul Manafort, Rick Gates, and George Papadopoulos.

And finally, in what is perhaps his most egregious misstatement, Trump claims that he has already “done more than any 10 month President.” However, in 10 months, this administration has zero major legislative accomplishments to boast of. In fact, it is plagued by its failure to repeal and replace Obamacare despite a Republican majority in every branch of government.

In fairness, one area where Trump has excelled has been his 81 days spent golfing since taking office just over 300 days ago, more than three times the amount that Obama had played at this point in his presidency.

Rather, Trump has focused solely on decimating the legacy of his predecessor with little regard for its impact on his administration or party’s popularity. In repealing so many favorable measures, he has effectively squandered what dwindling political capital he had when he came into office.

Trump can blurt “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN” on Twitter until he’s blue in the face, but with no significant achievements as president, his infamous slogan is nothing more than a tacky catchphrase.
