According to multiple sources, Ryan particularly dislikes the negative impact of his job towards his family. People close to him said the idea that he would resign immediately after the passage of the tax bill because that all he ever wanted to achieve was inaccurate.

A related report from Politico indicated that the House Speaker made it clear to those close to him that he “would serve through Election Day 2018 and retire ahead of the next Congress.

When asked by reported about the rumors regarding the matter, Ryan denied that he is planning to retire.

The House Speaker’s spokeswoman AshLee Strong released a statement saying, “This is pure speculations. He’s not going anywhere any time soon.”

Ryan’s aide also told CNN that President Donald Trump called the House Speaker about Politico’s report. The aide said, “The speaker reassured the President ‘I’m not going anywhere!’
