Ivanka Trump’s international business deals are now being probed by US investigators who are attempting to uncover if members of the Trump administration are personally benefiting from their supposed public-service roles.
A team of investigators are now sifting through the details of a Trump property in Vancouver, Canada. The Trump International Hotel and Tower which first opened back in February of 2017, a month after President Donald Trump’s inauguration. The project also features an Ivanka Trump-branded spa.
According to a report by CNN, the investigators are looking into the negotiations and financing surrounds of the Vancouver deal, an inquiry that is being supported by the first daughter’s federal background check.
Ivanka Trump is currently a senior adviser to the president, and the controversial matter could damage her efforts to obtain a full security clearance. She’s currently holds an interim security clearance. Her husband, Jared Kushner, has recently come under heavy fire after he lost interim security clearance that allowed him temporary access to top-secret information.
Kushner suffered a major blow after he failed to secure a permanent security clearance for over a year, with experts speculating that the conflicts of interest between his job and his family business were ultimately behind his demise.
His temporary clearance was then downgraded by the White House chief of staff, making it impossible for him to do his job. Followed up by a Washington Post report that revealed that several foreign governments had duped Kushner into several damaging business entanglements.
