Melania just canceled trip with Donald Trump (Details)

First Lady Melania Trump has just canceled plans to join her husband, President Donald Trump, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland later this week, according to East Wing communications director Stephanie Grisham.

Here’s what we know: Melania has yet to make a public statement since news came out that Trump’s lawyer paid hush money in the tune of $130,000 to porn star Stormy Daniels, after Trump had an affair with her. It’s been nearly 10 days of complete silence from the First Lady. The only exception came on Martin Luther King Day (a post likely made by an aide of hers), honoring MLK Jr.

And – while she did go with Trump to Mar-a-Lago over the weekend, she skipped several key events, including two evening dinners hosted by Trump.

Mrs. Grisham cited the main reason as “scheduling and logistical issues,” but President Trump’s plane hasn’t even left yet. She could still join him.

What else is on the First Lady’s schedule?

Melania’s announcement is causing people to put two and two together: she’s mad. Who are we to blame her? The details of the Stormy Daniels affair are quite disturbing and have been corroborated by emails and several people. Almost every high-profile news outlet has reported on it, so there’s no way she could not have heard about it.

Trump isn’t only facing backlash from his wife, though. The Department of Justice and the Federal Election Commission are investigating the payments, which a watchdog group says are possibly “illegal.”

“These apparent violations are not simple bookkeeping errors, but seemingly a deliberate evasion of the laws on the books to ensure Americans get a full accounting of the money raised and spent by and for candidates for the presidency,” Paul S. Ryan, the vice president for policy and litigation at Common Cause who filed the complaints, explained. “These actions are just the latest examples of the president, his family, his campaign, and subsequently administration, playing fast and loose with the laws that apply to them.”

And, even though Trump’s attorney previously denied the affair, he failed to clarify if the payment was, in fact, sent. He sidestepped the payment issue by calling the whole thing “baseless.”

For those that actually believe Melania is canceling the trip for “scheduling reasons,” all we say to that is come on. This is a very high-end event and a number of influential financial and business leaders will be in attendance. She previously said (before the affair announcement) that she would be in attendance to support her husband, but all of a sudden she has changed her tune.
