Birther conspiracy pusher & former Arizona Sheriff, racist Joe Arpaio, has been making his rounds on TV after announcing that he would make a run in the Arizona Senate race. Joe intends to take over the seat that current Arizona Senator Jeff Flake will vacate after declaring last year that he would not run for reelection. (video below)
In 2016, President Trump made the controversial decision to pardon Sheriff Joe after he was found guilty of racially profiling Latinos at the Mexican border.
Joe recently appeared on MSNBC to speak with host Ari Melber about his pardon, and Joe proved that he has no clue about how a pardon works. The Supreme Court ruled in Burdick v. United States that a pardon “carries an imputation of guilt and acceptance of a confession of it.”
Melber asked Joe, “As you know, when you take a pardon, you’re admitting guilt. Why did you take that pardon and admit guilt?”
A disgruntled Joe answered, “I didn’t admit guilt. I said I was not guilty, and I say it today.”
“But you accepted the pardon,” Melber pressed, “and you know under the law that is an admission of guilt.”
Joe replied, “No, I don’t know about that, you’ll have to talk to the legal scholars about that.” Melber then cited Burdick v. United States, which didn’t ring any bells for Joe.
