Special counsel Robert Mueller isn’t just throwing the book at Paul Manafort and Robert Gates, he’s catapulting the entire library. The former Trump campaign manager and his crony have already been indicted on numerous counts, but apparently, the earlier charges were only scratching the surface of their staggering criminality.

CNN reports that Mueller has filed a new 32-count indictment against the two men that includes allegations of tax fraud and bank fraud. The official indictment states that both of them have been concealing income from the United States federal government since 2006.

Manafort and Gates were previously indicted for conspiracy against the United States, acting as unregistered agents of a foreign nation, money laundering, as well as other financial crimes.

While none of the charges so far seem to implicate Trump directly, the mounting pile of legal problems makes it seem increasingly likely that if either of them has dirt on the president they will flip on him to save themselves. It’s the traditional way in which Mafia dons are taken down by law enforcement. First, you get the lower level guys, then you use them to go after the upper ranks.

Today’s news follows on the tail of the Tuesday bombshell that a Dutch lawyer based out of London has pleaded guilty to Mueller for lying about his contacts with Gates. He admitted to making false statements to the FBI, the same crime that brought down former Trump campaign advisor George Papadopoulos.

The guilty parties in this investigation are being rounded up methodically, and it’s only a matter of time before members of the administration are brought low.
