It’s been almost a year since Donald Trump’s tenure, and already a shocking amount of people have quit a government-filled position. More and more people are realizing that no amount of money can make up for the lies and flat-out destruction that Donald Trump has bestowed upon our country.
Recently, a top U.S. State Department diplomat has called it quits after delivering a blistering letter to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, excoriating him and the Trump administration for destroying the work they have done and damaging the reputation of the country across the world.
According to Huffington Post, Elizabeth Shackelford, who served as a political officer based in Nairobi for the U.S. mission to Somalia, was scathing in her appraisal of the department under Tillerson.
In a statement, she says:
“The cost of this is visible every day in Mission Somalia, my current post, where State’s diplomatic influence, on the country and within our own interagency, is waning.”
In a letter obtained by Foreign Policy, Shackelford offered a glimpse into the weakening State Department under Trump. She said she was “shocked” when Tillerson, who stepped down as ExxonMobil CEO to serve as Trump’s secretary of state, told department employees that advancing human rights across the globe “creates obstacles to our ability to advance our national security interests.”
“If Tillerson is unable to stem the bleeding and preserve the department’s mission, I would humbly recommend you follow me out the door.”
One thing is for certain: Trump’s goal is not to resolve issues through diplomatic channels, but to sow division and hatred throughout the world – undoubtedly, that is what he does best. And people like Rex Tillerson are clearing the path of destruction by letting him get away with everything. Our experienced members of the government are leaving in droves because of the constant chaos that is the White House. Trump can’t find any qualified personnel to replace them because everyone, including Tillerson, knows he’s a moron. The damage Trump’s administration will do will be felt for a decade after he’s impeached.
