Top U.S. Republican attorney just declined offer to join Trump’s legal team

On Tuesday, it was revealed that Attorney Theodore Olson will not join Trump’s legal team.

This was confirmed by Ted Boutrous, who works with Olson at the Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher law firm.

This confirmation comes as it was revealed that Trump’s legal team reached out to Olson as the Russia probe continues to expand. Trump’s team was hoping to bring Olson on board.

The Trump team asking for Olson also comes after Trump’s legal team gave Mueller documents on Monday with the hope of limiting the scope of a potential interview with Mueller.

Before turning down the offer, Olson reportedly considered the offer and looked into all the possible conflicts of interests with the firm.

Olson served as solicitor general in the George W. Bush administration. He is also considered a star attorney in Washington.
