Former US Vice President under Obama, Joe Biden, says that President Donald Trump should not be allowed to get re-elected. Though there’s still time before the 2020 presidential election, Biden maintains that there’s no serious candidate that could stand in Trump’s way.
That’s why Obama’s former running mate has been privately telling people that he might take matters into his own hands and challenge Trump for the presidency.
MSNBC’s Donny Deutsche announced on Morning Joe this week that a source close to Biden suggested if the former vice president is alive and well in 2020, he might just enter the presidential race to oppose Mr. Trump. As Deutsche said:
“I spoke to someone close to Biden, [who] said if he’s healthy, he’s going for it in 2020.”
So, from Biden’s standpoint, there’s only one person who can defeat the seemingly unstoppable Trump: Joe Biden!
During the weekend, Biden discussed with Oprah the chance of seeing him on the campaign trail in 2020, where he left all possibilities open:
“Not yet,” he said in his “SuperSoul Sunday” interview.“Look, I’m a great respecter of fate. I don’t plan on running.”
“Here’s my problem: You know, I learned how to become one of the most popular elected officials in the United States. Announce you’re not running for president – it’s amazing! Boom, you know, it really gets good,” Biden said laughing. “But I’m asked to speak a lot in political fore, and I’m doing it not nearly as often as I’m asked because every time I’m asked, they translate it into, ‘I’m running for president.’”
One more time: Is Biden considering a presidential run in 2020?
So, what should we expect of Biden to decide for 2020?
“I’m, as I said, a great respecter of fate,” said Biden. “I’m over 70, I’m ― thank God ― right now in awful good health. But I don’t know … what things are going to be two years from now. So I just don’t know. I promise you: I’m not doing anything to organize running, but I’m going to go out there and continue to do what I’ve done since I’ve been 26 years old: holler.”
