While discussing the implications of a recent surge in states passing a $15 hourly minimum wage, Fox Business Network host Stuart Varney suggested that – in retribution for the move – he would tip servers less.

Varney, it should be noted, is worth approximately $10 millio

“If I walk into a restaurant, and I know that the waiter or waitress is making $15 an hour, way more than they used to make the previous year, I’m going to think, ‘wait a minute, am I going to give you 20 percent, 15 percent, 10 percent or whatever?’” the host asked.

Varney’s comments came while speaking with Apple-Metro CEO Zane Tankel. While Tankel was on board with Varney’s anti-labor tirade throughout the entirety of their conversation, the CEO quickly changed his tune upon hearing the host’s comments, calling them only an “interesting observation.”

“We haven’t seen that as of yet,” Tankel responded cautiously. “It’s an interesting observation and it might be down the road, but this is all sort of brand new right now.”

The men then went on to laud each other for their impending tax cut as the result of the recently passed Republican tax plan.

It is telling that these two multimillionaires could go from lambasting the working class for their crime of attempting to earn a livable wage to fawning over themselves over the fact that they will become even richer in the same breath. Telling, that is, but not surprising.
